Department of Gastroenterology

Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences brings together various specialties for the evaluation and treatment of digestive diseases, along with a multidisciplinary team of medical gastroenterologists and specialist surgeons to ensure a comprehensive solution to all gastroenterological problems. Prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the digestive tract, liver and pancreatico-biliary system in children and adults are the core objectives of the Institute. The department prides itself in providing compassionate care to the most needy with a high premium on patient.

The department not only handles the common Gastro problems like GERD, IBS, Peptic ulcers, constipation but also provides a comprehensive care for hepatitis, liver failure, gall stones, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, pancreatitis, early cancers and palliative care. The department is equipped with state-of-the-art Endoscopes (gastroscope, colonoscope, duodenoscope), C-arm X-ray machine, Endoscopic Ultrasound, High resolution manometry, 24hr pH merty. The wards (general and special) are spacious, well appointed both for patient comfort and optimum care. Intensive care unit and High dependency units provide care for the critically ill and this making recovery.

The department of gastroenterology is well-supported by round the clock laboratory, blood bank, ICU, radiology and emergency services to ensure patients receive the highest level of care in a timely manner.
